On Friday, January 9, Ukraine is expected to experience difficult and dangerous weather conditions due to a combination of heavy snow, rain, blizzards, and stormy winds. Most regions are forecast to have icy roads and wind gusts of up to 20 m/s, with a level I danger warning in effect.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Significant snow and blizzards are expected at night and in the morning in the Rivne, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kyiv regions, as well as in Kyiv.
Significant rain with wet snow will fall in the Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.
Storm winds of up to 15-20 m/s and blizzards will cover Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.
Roads in most regions of Ukraine will be very slippery — a level I hazard warning has been issued due to icy conditions.
The State Emergency Service urges drivers and pedestrians to be as careful as possible and plan their trips in advance. Better yet, if possible, do not travel anywhere.
