On the morning of July 18, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union (Coreper) approved the 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas on the X network.

“We stand firm on our position. The EU has just approved one of the strongest sanctions packages against Russia to date,” Kallas wrote.

The EU will continue to cut the Kremlin’s military budget, pursue 105 more ships of the “shadow fleet” and their suppliers, and restrict access to financing for Russian banks.

The new package of EU sanctions includes a ban on the construction of the Nord Stream pipeline, a lower price ceiling for Russian oil, and restrictions on those involved in the ideological influence on Ukrainian children.

“We are putting more pressure on the Russian military industry, Chinese banks, which allows them to circumvent sanctions, and blocking the export of technologies used in drones,” the European diplomat added.

For the first time, the sanctions package includes a register of ships’ flags and Rosneft’s largest refinery in India.

Earlier, Slovakia and Malta agreed to lift their veto on this package of restrictions. The 18th package of sanctions is being discussed under the Any other business (AOB) item, which does not require a vote or decision.
