Ukrainian tennis players Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostiuk won their second round matches at the WTA 1000 in Miami, defeating Swiss Belinda Bencic and Australian Kimberly Birrell respectively.
Svitolina and Kostiuk started the tournament in Miami in the second round. Elina started with a match against Diana Yastremska’s offender, Swiss Belinda Bencic, whom she defeated in two sets 6-1, 6-2. Kostiuk defeated Australian Kimberly Birrell in a three-set match 7:5. 4:6, 6:3.
For Kostiuk, this is the first time in her professional career that she has reached the third round of the Miami Open, while Svitolina last reached the third round of the tournament in 2021.
In the third round, Elina Svitolina will face Czech world No. 14 Karolina Muchova, and Marta Kostiuk will face neutral Anna Blinkova.
The third round matches are scheduled for Monday, March 24.
