Since the summer of 2025, Russia has launched a series of strikes on facilities belonging to American companies in Ukraine, including Cargill, Coca-Cola, Boeing, Mondelez, and Philip Morris. The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has not publicly condemned these attacks.

The New York Times reports on this.

As the publication notes, in mid-April, Russian drones attacked a grain terminal belonging to the American company Cargill in southern Ukraine. Seven drones struck the facility within three minutes.

Since the summer of 2025, facilities linked to Coca-Cola, Boeing, Mondelez, Philip Morris, Flex Ltd., and Bunge have also come under Russian attack. Ukraine has publicly confirmed some of the attacks, but others had not been previously reported.

Russia’s motives for targeting American companies remain unclear. Some Ukrainian businesspeople believe the attacks are part of a broader campaign against all types of assets, regardless of the companies’ nationality, with the aim of stifling the country’s economy. Others see a more specific goal—to deter American investment just as Kyiv is trying to deepen business ties with a deal-oriented White House.

According to the NYT, American companies have privately approached U.S. officials regarding the attacks on their assets in Ukraine. At the same time, the Donald Trump administration has not condemned any of the strikes.

At the same time, Washington has called on Ukraine to refrain from striking a Russian oil terminal in the Black Sea, through which oil from Kazakh fields is exported with the participation of American companies. This was stated by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Olha Stefanishyna.

A U.S. State Department spokesperson told the publication that Washington “has called on both sides to refrain from attacks on American business interests.” The White House stated only that the Trump administration is “working to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.”

According to Senator Jean Shaheen, representatives of American companies stated during a meeting with senators in Ukraine that they consider the attacks to be deliberate. Andy Hander, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, said that Russia is attempting to stop American businesses from entering Ukraine with such strikes.
