On December 4, at 13:30, a new decentralized warning system was tested in Kharkiv, with a different sound from the traditional air raid alarm.
According to the Kharkiv City Council, the new system will reduce the number of alarms in the city and create more comfortable conditions for businesses, including shopping centers, banks, and other institutions.
For example, if there is a danger in Kupiansk, the alarm will not sound in Kharkiv. Such differentiation will help to respond more effectively to real threats.
According to Bohdan Gladkykh, director of the Emergency Situations Department, the city is now awaiting recommendations from the military and final approval to launch the system.
“Today we tested the new warning system. It has several power sources, backup communication channels, and voice messages that allow us to specify the type of threat to the city. The test results will be handed over to the military for analysis. We are waiting for approval to separate alarms and further integrate the system into the territorial and national alert system. Technically, we are fully prepared,” said Gladkikh.
