Ukrainian and German Defense Ministers Mykhailo Fedorov and Boris Pistorius signed a letter of intent in Kyiv to launch the “Brave Germany” program. The initiative aims to develop defense technologies and support innovative startups.

        This was reported by Ukrinform.

During a briefing following the signing of the documents, Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Germany is currently Ukraine’s largest partner in the world in terms of security assistance. According to him, about one-third of all assistance to Ukraine comes from Germany. He also expressed separate gratitude for support in the field of air defense, particularly for the funding and transfer of missiles for Patriot systems.

“Today, Germany is the world’s number one country in terms of security assistance to Ukraine. It accounts for about a third of all aid to our country,” Fedorov emphasized.

The minister also recalled the major contract between Ukraine and Germany, for which funding has already begun. According to him, the delivery of missiles under this package is expected next year. In addition, he noted Boris Pistorius’ initiative to support an additional package of PAC-3 missiles in the “Ramstein” format to protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure during Russian winter attacks.

According to Fedorov, Germany is also funding interceptor drones, IRIS-T systems, and missiles for them, as well as supporting middle strike and deep strike capabilities. He noted that these capabilities allow for striking Russian military logistics.

“Middle strikes allow us to disrupt our enemy’s logistics today. In other words, this is once again about the quality of support, about funding the most critical areas,” the minister said.

Additionally, according to Fedorov, Germany has allocated the first funds to support the drone assault units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. According to him, the parties are continuing to implement the plan approved during the last meeting in the “Ramstein” format.

Fedorov stated that in recent months, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have demonstrated positive momentum in destroying Russian troops, while Russia lacks the resources to continue offensive operations.

“Russia lacks the strength to continue offensive operations. The Ukrainian army is wearing down the Russians,” he noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit on May 11.
