The rating of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has increased, despite the odious statements of President Donald Trump.

According to the KIIS, as of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust Zelenskyy, while 37% do not. The balance of trust and distrust is +20%.

This figure is an improvement compared to the results of the December 2024 survey, when the level of trust in the president was 52%, and distrust was 39%, and the balance of trust and distrust was +13%.

KIIS Deputy Director Anton Hrushetskyi noted that President Zelenskyy retains high public trust and maintains his legitimacy.

“Ukrainian citizens have no problems with the legitimacy of the president. The current president and the government are absolutely legitimate to negotiate. Elections should be held after the war is over and reliable security guarantees are in place,” said Grushetsky.

The survey was conducted by KIIS among 1000 respondents from February 4 to 9, 2025. The sample did not include people from the temporarily uncontrolled territories, as well as those who left the country after February 24, 2022.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine needs to hold elections because incumbent President Zelenskyy has a low rating. According to Trump’s calculations, Zelenskyy has “only a 4% approval rating.”
