Ukrainian pilots will soon begin training on French Rafale aircraft in France. Paris is also preparing a new defence aid package for Ukraine, which, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is expected to arrive soon.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to Zelenskyy, the presidents discussed Russia’s escalation and Ukraine’s defence needs, as well as the contents of the new defence package.
The sides separately discussed the training of Ukrainian pilots on Rafale aircraft. Zelenskyy called the start of such training “a strong step for Ukraine’s combat aviation”.
The Ukrainian and French teams are also continuing work on localizing the production of French missiles and aerial bombs in Ukraine.
In addition, the sides discussed preparations for the FREYJA system and ways to accelerate work in this area.
Zelenskyy and Macron agreed to discuss all the issues in greater detail during an in-person meeting.
