        Zelensky congratulates the United States on Independence Day and mentions Javelins and Patriot systems

        President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the United States of America on Independence Day, emphasizing the significance of the American dream for the entire world and thanking the United States for supporting Ukraine during Russia’s full-scale war.

        According to Zelensky, 250 years ago one of the “brightest, strongest and most influential human dreams” was born – the American dream of its own independent, free and prosperous country that protects people’s freedom, faith and pursuit of happiness.

        The president said this dream had gone through many trials and not only survived, but for two and a half centuries had served as an example for other nations. According to him, America played a particularly important role in the 20th century, when it helped protect the world from the rule of tyrants and created alliances and partnerships that gave a significant part of humanity lasting peace and the opportunity for free development.

        Zelensky stressed that in the 21st century, America’s influence and importance are no less significant. This is especially visible in Ukraine, he said, as the country fights for its independence, freedom and the right to happiness for its people “with essentially the same hopes, the same meaning, the same energy” with which Americans won and defended their own independence.

        The president thanked the United States for supporting Ukraine, particularly during Russia’s full-scale war. He separately mentioned American weapons – from Javelins, whose transfer to Ukraine was approved by President Donald Trump, to Patriot systems, which Zelensky said most reliably protect Ukrainian lives.

        “Everything that the United States has helped us with in defending our country proves the strength of the American spirit, American determination and American technology,” Zelensky said.

        The head of state emphasized that Ukraine knows very well the price of words about freedom and respect for human life. According to him, when Ukraine asks the United States for Patriot systems, it believes that the values of respect for life and people, which worked 250 years ago, will work now as well.

        “The world needs the kind of leadership that guarantees protection for freedom and life,” the president stressed.

        Zelensky wished America a happy Fourth of July, success to the U.S. president and all Americans, and fruitful cooperation to everyone in the world who values America.

        In his address, he also quoted the U.S. Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

        “May the dreams of free people always defeat the evil and hatred of those who would like to destroy freedom. America, thank you! I am confident: if we stand together, we will definitely achieve peace! Congratulations on your day!” Zelensky concluded.
