Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has not yet decided whether he will participate in the next presidential or parliamentary elections. He plans to make a decision after a mechanism for holding elections during the war has been developed.

Fedorov made the remarks in an interview with Channel 24.

Asked directly whether he would run for president, Fedorov said Ukraine must first establish transparent and equal electoral rules. He stressed that these rules should not favor any particular candidate or political party.

Once this work is completed, Fedorov said he would assess who contributed to preparing the elections and how they acted before deciding on his next steps.

“I will decide whether to support someone, act independently or not move forward at all,” he said.

Fedorov emphasized that his current priority is not launching his own election campaign but restoring Ukraine’s “democratic cycle.” He called for preparations for presidential, parliamentary and local elections, arguing that no one can predict how long the war will continue.

According to the former minister, Ukraine must determine in advance how service members, Ukrainians living abroad and internally displaced people will vote. He also claimed that 60-70% of the legislation required to hold elections during wartime has already been drafted.

Fedorov also said he was not in opposition to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or any particular political party. He described himself as an opponent of the “old system” and corruption.
