Russia strikes train again after emergency crews arrive in Odesa region

Russian jet-powered drones attacked a passenger train twice in Ukraine’s Odesa region while nearly 600 people, including 15 children, were aboard. Russian forces launched the second strike after rescuers and emergency crews had arrived, but no one was injured.

The Odesa Regional Military Administration reported the consequences of the attack.

The regional authorities said Russian forces deliberately targeted the civilian train. After the initial strike, Russia attacked again while rescuers and other emergency services were already working at the scene.

The train was stopped immediately, and all passengers, railway staff and locomotive crew members were evacuated to a safe distance.

Under the coordination of the regional military administration, the passengers were quickly transported away from the attack site. Emergency medical teams were stationed along the evacuation route as a precaution.

The evacuation has now been completed. Emergency services remain at the scene, while law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the Russian attack.

Ukrzaliznytsia previously reported that a Russian drone struck the train’s locomotive during the passenger evacuation. Railway staff and passengers were moved to safety in time after the company’s monitoring center warned them of the aerial threat.
