        Number Injured in Russian Strike on Kryvyi Rih Shopping Mall Rises to 140

        The number of people injured in Russia’s strike on the Soniachna Halereia shopping and entertainment center in Kryvyi Rih has risen to 140. Fifty victims, including 13 children, remain in hospital.

        The updated figures were reported on the morning of August 23 by Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council.

        Vilkul said eight more people had sought medical assistance, including one child. All of them received outpatient treatment.

        As of 7:30 a.m., 50 victims, including 13 children, remained hospitalized. Six patients, among them two children, were in critical condition.

        One adult woman was on a ventilator. Another nine adult patients were in serious condition.

        Russian forces struck the Soniachna Halereia mall twice during the day on August 21. The impacts caused a major fire covering 9,000 square meters. Firefighters extinguished it at about 11 p.m.

        Sixteen people were killed in the attack. Earlier reports put the number of injured at 132, including 25 children. Rescue workers searched through the rubble for missing people. Kryvyi Rih declared August 23 a day of mourning.

        No attacks were recorded in the Kryvyi Rih district overnight on August 23. Russian forces, however, attacked Nikopol and the Pokrovske, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities with drones and artillery. Preliminary reports indicated no casualties there.
