Russian forces struck a factory operated by US company Mondelez International in Trostianets, Sumy Oblast. Five employees were injured, while production and administrative buildings were damaged.

The attack was reported by Suspilne Sumy.

The injured included men born in 1963 and 1976 and women born in 1973, 1983 and 1985. They sustained minor wounds and cuts. No fatalities were reported.

According to preliminary information from a Suspilne correspondent, three impacts were recorded on the factory grounds. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported two Russian drone strikes.

Sybiha described the attack as another deliberate Russian strike on an American business operating in Ukraine. He said Russian aggression threatens not only Ukraine but also US economic interests in Europe.

The foreign minister urged Ukraine’s partners to strengthen the country’s air defenses and increase pressure on Moscow, including through additional sanctions.

The Trostianets factory has operated since 1994 and was among the first major US investments in Ukraine. It produces chocolate, biscuits and other goods under brands including Milka, Oreo and Barni. Before Russia’s full-scale invasion, the facility provided about 1,500 jobs.

This was the third attack on the factory in 2026, following Russian strikes in February and June. The facility was also damaged in 2022 and subsequently rebuilt.

Mondelez, meanwhile, continues to operate in Russia. According to Suspilne, the company paid approximately $62 million in taxes to the Russian budget in 2023.
