International Expert Council on Resilience established in Kyiv

The scientific and expert conference “Mosaic of Experiences: An International Dialogue on Resilience” was held in Kyiv, opening the program of the sixth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. The International Expert Council on Resilience was launched following the event.

The conference was attended by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Lithuania Diana Nausėdienė and First Gentleman of Slovenia Aleš Musar, according to the Office of the President.

Held as part of the summit “The World in 2026: Finding Strength in Times of Uncertainty”, the event brought together more than 200 Ukrainian and international experts, researchers and representatives of government institutions, international organizations, businesses, civil society and the security sector at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Participants discussed people’s inner strength, preparedness for crises, mutual trust, communities’ capacity for self-organization, institutional adaptability and models of societal security.

“We in Ukraine, like our Lavra, are going through a great deal right now. And do you know when it becomes a little easier? When you can share what you have lived through and turn that experience into something useful for others”, Zelenska said.

She noted that Ukrainian medical professionals are already sharing their experience in treating complex injuries with colleagues from other countries. Ukraine also seeks to systematize and share the knowledge of societal resilience acquired during the war, she added.

During the discussion, Ukrainian experts examined frontline experience, mental health, demographic prospects, the healthcare system and the relationship between individuals and their communities. Participants also signed the manifesto “Sofiynist: A Ukrainian Philosophy of Life”.

The newly established International Expert Council will study resilience mechanisms, systematize accumulated knowledge and develop practical solutions for communities, governments and institutions.

The conference was organized by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers’ Mental Health Coordination Center as part of the “How Are You?” program, in cooperation with the Institute for National Resilience and Security and with the support of the World Health Organization.
