Yaroslava Mahuchikh won gold in the women’s high jump at the Diamond League meeting in Silesia, Poland. Iryna Herashchenko finished second, securing the top two places on the podium for Ukraine.

Mahuchikh won with a clearance of 2.00 metres, while Herashchenko claimed silver after clearing 1.98 metres, Suspilne Sport reported. Australia’s Eleanor Patterson also cleared 1.98 metres but finished third on countback.

Herashchenko initially took the lead by clearing 1.98 metres on her first attempt. It was her best result since 2023. Mahuchikh and Patterson both cleared the height on their second attempts.

Herashchenko and Patterson used all three attempts at 2.00 metres but failed to clear the bar. Mahuchikh succeeded on her final attempt to claim her second Diamond League victory of the season.

Having secured the win, the Ukrainian world record holder raised the bar to 2.02 metres. She came close on her first attempt but knocked the bar down with her legs, while her next two attempts were also unsuccessful.

By clearing 1.98 metres, Mahuchikh and Herashchenko achieved the qualifying standard for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

Another Ukrainian athlete, Yuliia Levchenko, cleared 1.89 metres but failed at 1.93 metres and finished ninth.
