Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on social media that he had held a meeting with the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleg Ivashchenko, during which they discussed the security situation around Ukraine and current threats from Russia.
According to the head of state, Ukraine will continue to focus on reducing the aggressor’s economic potential, in particular by restricting and reducing the cost of Russian oil exports. A similar approach will be applied to Russian military production by severing international ties and circumventing sanctions. Zelensky thanked the Foreign Intelligence Service for its work in this area and for the information provided.
The President also announced that, starting today, Oleg Ivashchenko will continue his service in Ukraine’s military intelligence, where he will carry out tasks to limit Russia’s military potential.
In addition, Zelenskyy reported on the report by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and the discussion of the activities of the State Border Service of Ukraine. According to him, under the leadership of Serhiy Deineko, the State Border Guard Service has come a long way in terms of development and strengthening over more than six years, and border guard units are now fighting on the front lines alongside other components of the Ukrainian Defence and Security Forces. The border with Belarus and Russia has also been significantly strengthened.
At the same time, the President noted that there are tasks to change the approaches in the work of the State Border Guard Service. In the near future, Minister Klymenko is to present candidates to replace the head of the service, and Serhiy Deineko, according to Zelenskyy, will continue to work in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
