Workshop in Kharkiv: how border guards assemble FPV drones to fight the enemy

In the Kharkiv region, border guards of the Gart Brigade have set up a workshop for the production and repair of drones, Suspilne Kharkiv reports.

The workshop is located not far from the unit’s area of operation. This reduces the time required to repair and upgrade pilots’ equipment, allowing them to respond quickly to the needs at the front.

It takes only two hours to assemble an FPV drone, which allows border guards to quickly restore their equipment. As the head of the workshop, border guard Sholder, explained, such drones are unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with a camera that allows the pilot to see the flight as if from the first person (FPV – First Person View). The drone can carry a payload of up to one and a half kilograms.

In addition to assembling new drones, the workshop repairs damaged equipment, including re-equipping UAVs that often fail due to conditions at the front. ‘Time is an advantage,’ says the border guard, emphasising that due to the workshop’s location closer to the front, repairs can be carried out much faster than in centralised warehouses.

The border guard, who has been serving with the brigade for more than six months, used to work as an engineer in Kyiv and found his new mission through a job search site. ‘Here I feel useful, helping the guys on the front line to destroy the enemy more effectively,’ he says.

The workshop works without a break, as every drone that helps in the fight against the enemy is an important step towards victory. ‘It will be long and difficult, but we will succeed,’ the border guard assures.
