The 25th Winter Olympic Games have concluded in northern Italy, with only the closing ceremony remaining. The medal standings were summarized by Champion.

Around 3,000 athletes from 85 countries competed for 116 sets of medals across 16 sports. Norway became the undisputed leader of the Games, winning 18 gold medals and 41 medals overall — new Winter Olympic records for both gold medals and total medals.

Host nation Italy also rewrote its national record with 10 gold medals and 30 overall. Arianna Fontana added one gold and one silver to her collection, becoming the most decorated Olympic athlete in Italian history with 14 medals.

The Netherlands finished third in the medal table, setting a national record thanks to dominant performances in short track and speed skating — five gold medals in each discipline. Jens van ’t Wout was one of the team’s standout athletes, claiming three golds and one bronze.

Brazil delivered a historic moment as Lucas Braathen’s gold in giant slalom became the first-ever Winter Olympic medal for South America.

The United States placed second overall with 32 medals, including 12 golds, and victories in both hockey finals against Canada. Germany finished fifth with 26 medals and eight golds — its weakest performance since 1976. France, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Japan also made the top 10.

Ukraine ended the Games without medals — the third such outcome in its history after 2002 and 2010. The country’s best results were sixth-place finishes in team freestyle skiing and the luge relay.

Georgia won its first-ever Winter Olympic medal — silver in pairs figure skating. Denmark reached the podium for the first time since 1998 with silver in the speed skating mass start, while Bulgaria secured two bronze medals for the first time in 20 years.
