Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the battlefield situation in May has shifted in Ukraine’s favor. According to him, Ukrainian forces are now holding more positions and inflicting greater losses on Russian troops.

Zelenskyy made the remarks during his evening address.

The president said he had received reports from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and the General Staff regarding the frontline situation.

“This month has brought changes in dynamics in our favor, in favor of Ukraine: we are holding more positions and inflicting more damage,” Zelenskyy said.

The president also stressed the effectiveness of Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions against Russia” and announced that he had approved plans for Ukraine’s long-range capabilities for June.

“We must creatively develop Ukraine’s long-range sanctions, which demonstrated their strength in May,” he said.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine would increase supplies of drones, ground robotic systems, and additional funding for combat brigades.

The president also spoke about Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts for May and June, including contacts with the new governments of Hungary and Georgia.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine continues to work toward European integration and is ready to open new negotiation clusters in the EU accession process.

A separate part of the address focused on the return to Ukraine of historical figures buried abroad.

Zelenskyy said the process has begun to rebury Colonel Andriy Melnyk and his wife Sofiia in Ukraine. Preparations are also underway regarding Colonel Yevhen Konovalets and other prominent historical figures.

“The Ukrainian people deserve their historical memory, and we are strengthening this true memory,” the president said.
