Hryhorov said a search-and-rescue operation was launched after the strike. Initial reports indicated that several people had been injured and were receiving medical assistance.
Later, Hryhorov reported that rescuers had recovered the body of a 78-year-old woman from under the rubble. Three other people, including a child, were injured.
The Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office said the Russian drone struck an apartment building. Two women aged 75 and 41, as well as a 44-year-old man, were hospitalized. An eight-year-old boy was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction.
Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported that part of the city was left without electricity following the attack. He also said that rescuers believed a person could be trapped under the rubble of the apartment building.
Prosecutors and law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the attack.
