In Ukraine, law enforcement has detained and arrested Fedor Khrystenko, a Member of Parliament of the 9th convocation from the banned Opposition Platform – For Life (OPZZh) party, who is suspected of state treason. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Office of the Prosecutor General reported the arrest.
According to the investigation, Khrystenko had been recruited by Russia’s FSB even before the full-scale invasion and carried out assignments for the Russian intelligence service. In particular, he established contacts with several detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), creating a mechanism of influence over the leadership of the law enforcement body.
In July, Khrystenko was formally charged under the Criminal Code of Ukraine with state treason committed by a group of persons during wartime, and abuse of influence.
After his detention, Khrystenko was brought before a court, which upheld his pre-trial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
