The Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated Poland’s military and the entire Polish nation on Polish Armed Forces Day, observed on 15 August. The Ukrainian military thanked Poland for its long-standing support and recalled the two countries’ shared resistance to Moscow’s imperialism.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published the message.
The General Staff noted that Polish Armed Forces Day commemorates the victory in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw. During the battle, the Polish Army, together with units of the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, stopped the advance of Bolshevik forces.
“The century-long continuity of our joint resistance to Moscow’s imperialism continues today on the Ukrainian front,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.
The Ukrainian military expressed its gratitude to the Polish Armed Forces and the Republic of Poland for the systematic military assistance Warsaw has provided since 2014, particularly following the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The General Staff highlighted Poland’s leadership within the Ramstein format, the activities of the joint Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG, and its participation in the EUMAM Ukraine mission, the NSATU initiative and the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre, JATEC.
Ukraine also thanked Poland for supporting Operation LEGIO, training Ukrainian units and providing logistical assistance. The General Staff stressed that this cooperation is bringing the Ukrainian military closer to full interoperability with NATO and European Union armed forces.
Special gratitude was expressed to the Polish people for providing shelter to Ukrainian families. The Ukrainian military also honoured Ukrainian citizens of Polish origin and Polish volunteers who died defending freedom.
“Glory to Poland! Glory to Ukraine! Together towards victory,” the message said.
