In the Polish town of Raszyn, new blue-and-yellow road markings near a school sparked heated discussion on social media. Some residents assumed they were special parking spaces for Ukrainians or a gesture of support for Ukraine, but local authorities explained that they are simply part of a standard Kiss and Ride zone.

The zone was created near the school so that parents can quickly drop off their children without blocking traffic or creating dangerous situations on the road.
However, the bright combination of blue and yellow prompted associations with the Ukrainian flag. Social media users began speculating about supposed “privileges for Ukrainians.”
Konrad Berkowicz, a politician from Poland’s Confederation party, reacted to the photos by asking: “Is this still Poland?”
Local authorities said they were surprised by the reaction. According to Aneta Wrotna, deputy head of the Raszyn municipality, the road markings had not yet been completed.
A white border and K+R markings are still to be added to the blue-and-yellow surface. Local officials said the absence of those elements may have caused the misunderstanding.
Kiss and Ride zones are intended for very short stops, usually lasting from several dozen seconds to no more than one or two minutes. Drivers pull up, drop off a child or passenger and immediately free the space for the next vehicle.
In Raszyn, the zone on Unii Europejskiej Street will operate from Monday to Friday during the morning rush hour, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
