On the night of August 2, units of the Active Operations Department of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, together with the Defence Forces, carried out strikes on the Saratov oil refinery and the Engels military airfield.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, the main oil-processing units at the Saratov refinery were hit. The facility has an annual processing capacity of about 7 million tonnes of oil.
The refinery produces aviation and diesel fuel, as well as lubricants used to supply the Russian occupation forces.
Infrastructure and life-support systems at the Engels strategic aviation base in Russia’s Saratov region were also hit.
Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence stressed that Russia regularly uses the Engels airfield to launch missile strikes against Ukraine.
