Ukraine is conducting combat trials of its own guided aerial bomb with a range of 20 to 100 km and a 250 kg warhead.

This was stated on Espreso by Ihor Romanenko, founder of the Close Ukraine’s Sky charitable foundation and a retired lieutenant general.

According to him, Ukrainian developers had been working on the weapon for a long time, and this year they managed to move on to practical results.

“The range is from 20 to 100 km, the payload is 250 kg, and combat-use trials are already under way. Funding and scaling have been included because we need this very much,” Romanenko said.

He also stressed the importance of using Ukrainian air-launched weapons together with Western aircraft, including F-16s and Mirages. According to him, their effectiveness increases significantly with proper intelligence and information support.

Romanenko separately drew attention to the capabilities of F-16s equipped with ERAM missiles. In his assessment, they could strike targets at distances of between 450 and 900 km and help reduce Russia’s ballistic potential.

At the same time, the general said that Ukraine needs decisions from the United States to make full use of this potential.

“Two American restrictions need to be lifted. We have everything, so give us the permissions,” Romanenko said.

According to him, this includes permission to use US weapons to strike Russia’s ballistic capabilities, as well as the ability to use US intelligence data for such operations.

Romanenko also said that intelligence and information support, including the use of satellite communications systems, should play an important role.
