Ukrainians’ trust in President Volodymyr Zelensky is declining, according to the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from July 23 to August 4.
According to KIIS, 58% of respondents currently trust the head of state, while 35% do not. For comparison, in June these figures were 65% and 30%, respectively. Despite this, the current level of trust is still higher than in December 2024, when the lowest value during the full-scale war was recorded (52% versus 39%).
The decline in trust partly coincided with the adoption of the controversial Law No. 12414. However, the downward trend was observed even before this event.

The most noticeable decline in trust was among young people under 30: from 74% at the beginning of summer to 59% at the beginning of August. Other age groups also saw a decline, albeit less significant.
KMIS Executive Director Anton Hrushetsky noted that, despite protests and criticism, Zelenskyy maintains a relatively high level of trust and legitimacy. At the same time, he warns of a persistent negative trend that requires a response from the authorities.
The survey was conducted by telephone interviews with 1,022 respondents in government-controlled regions. The formal margin of error does not exceed 4.1% for indicators close to 50%.
