Since October 2024, the period of general military training in the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) has been extended to two months.
This was announced by the Commander of the National Guard, Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko, in an interview with “Radio Khartia”.
The general military training of the NGU is 95% the same as the basic program of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but lasts two weeks longer.
Starting next year, the National Academy of the NGU will also start training officers with a focus on unmanned systems. This will be part of the specialized education of cadets who will study all types of UAVs for four years.
Currently, drone operators in the NGU are trained only through advanced training programs.
On November 1, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine introduced a new basic military training program at the training centers of the Land Forces. The training lasts 45 days.
The innovations have increased the number of training hours from 259 to 348, while reducing the daily workload from 10 to 8 hours.
