The heating season has begun in Ukraine. More than 55% of social facilities — kindergartens, hospitals, schools — are connected to heat.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
“In 13 regions, heat is also being supplied to residential buildings. The rest of the regions will gradually continue to connect, taking into account weather conditions. The decision to start is made by local authorities, taking into account the temperature regime,” the statement said.
According to Svyrydenko, more than 17,500 boiler rooms and 17,000 kilometers of heating networks are ready for operation. More than 340 km of heating networks have been replaced, repairs have been carried out, and stocks of coal, pallets, liquid fuel, and firewood have been formed.
As Svyrydenko noted, despite systematic Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy and heating infrastructure, the technical readiness of utility companies and the coordinated work of all relevant agencies have made it possible to start the heating season.
