President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv came under a massive Russian attack overnight. According to him, Russia launched 68 missiles and 351 attack drones against Ukraine.

Emergency crews are still dealing with the aftermath of the strike in the capital. Damage was recorded at more than 10 locations across the city, including residential buildings.

All necessary services are working at the sites. Zelenskyy said they are doing everything possible to rescue people and provide assistance to everyone who needs it.

So far, 64 people have been rescued in Kyiv, including two children. Eleven people are known to have been killed in the attack. About 60 others were injured.

In Kyiv region, according to the president, 16 people were injured and three were killed. In Vyshneve, a fire is still burning at the site of a missile strike, and residents are being evacuated from the private housing sector.

More than 400 rescuers and police officers have been involved in the response.

Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces showed good results overnight in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but not Russian ballistic missiles. He said the reason was insufficient supplies of interceptor missiles.

The president stressed that the world, especially the United States and European partners, must leave the NATO summit in Ankara with strong decisions to support the defense of Ukraine’s skies.

“As long as missiles for Patriots remain in allies’ warehouses, this only encourages Russia to keep ‘defeating’ residential buildings. The United States and Europe have enough power to stop this terror”, Zelenskyy said.
