Polish F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea for the second time this week.
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz reported this on social media platform X.
According to him, in the evening, another pair of fighter jets took to the air to intercept the Russian aircraft.
“The Russian Federation’s provocative actions are testing our air defense systems. Thanks to the constant combat readiness of pilots, soldiers, and ground personnel, Polish skies remain safe,” the statement reads.
Kosiak-Kamysz noted that the Polish Armed Forces are ready to respond promptly to threats.
As a reminder, on April 8, Polish fighter jets intercepted an Il-20 over the Baltic Sea that was conducting a reconnaissance mission with its transponder turned off.
