Search and rescue operations in Ternopil following the Russian strike on 19 November were completed on 22 November at 18:00. This was reported by The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, which deployed units from nine regions.
On 19 November, Russia attacked the city, and the main emergency and rescue work took place at two locations, where one residential building suffered extensive destruction and some people were trapped under debris or blocked in their apartments. Rescuers were extinguishing fires and dismantling structures simultaneously.
The operations lasted four days and involved units from nine regions, canine teams, heavy machinery, medics, and psychologists. Some of the work had to be carried out manually at the level of the fifth and sixth floors.
Thirty-three people were killed, including six children. Ninety-four people were injured, among them 18 children. Forty-six people were rescued, including seven children. Six people, including one child, remain missing.
Around 1,298 tonnes of debris were removed. Rescuers also found three pets — two cats and a parrot — and returned them to their owners.
Search and rescue operations have been completed, and investigative actions continue.
