NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that by the end of 2025, the total amount of military aid to Ukraine under the PURL program could reach $5 billion. According to him, Ukraine receives approximately $1 billion worth of weapons every month.
This was reported by El Pais.
According to Rutte, monthly arms deliveries to Ukraine amount to approximately $1 billion. He clarified that this refers not only to the PURL program, but also to other initiatives, in particular the Czech project “Initiative-2025” for the purchase of ammunition, as well as the efforts of Lithuania and Denmark to purchase equipment for the Ukrainian defense industry.
“European countries will continue to provide equipment from their own reserves. Of course, after 3-4 years of war, these reserves are dwindling, but deliveries are still possible,” Rutte said.
Rutte noted that some types of weapons can only be provided by the US, and President Donald Trump has agreed to finance American weapons by Canada and European allies. The NATO Secretary General also welcomed Spain’s decision to join the PURL program.
“I am very pleased that Spain has also decided to support this initiative, which is important for protecting Ukraine, saving the lives of innocent Ukrainians, and protecting infrastructure targeted by Russian UAVs and missiles. It also ensures that Ukraine can carry out its own attacks and prevents Russia from succeeding,” Rutte stressed.
Recall that on October 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Spain and Finland were joining the PURL program.
