On the morning of April 13, Russian troops attacked railway infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Approximately 500 passengers were evacuated from one of the commuter trains.
This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia and the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
Before the attack, the air threat monitoring center warned train crews who were in the risk zone. One of the commuter trains was stopped at the nearest station, and passengers were evacuated.
The locomotive crew of a freight train also managed to evacuate before the strike, which Russian troops carried out near the locomotive. As a result of the attack, none of the passengers or railway workers were injured.
Once the air threat had passed, passengers were allowed back onto the train, and it continued on its route.
“Monitoring for air threats along train routes is ongoing. This allows us to respond quickly to risks and minimize danger to people,” the statement said.
As a reminder, in March, Ukrzaliznytsia announced stricter safety rules on the tracks: in the event of a threat near the route, conductors will order the evacuation of passengers from trains.
