Russian occupants executed five Ukrainian prisoners of war near the village of Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on November 24 in the Pohoriv district, where active hostilities are ongoing.

The Office of the Prosecutor General emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.

Reports of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war are increasingly frequent in the news.

The executions of prisoners of war, judging by all known cases, have the same reasons and motives as during the wars of the past: cruelty in battle, revenge for their own losses, and, ultimately, unwillingness to “mess around” with prisoners.

At the same time, in the case of the executions of Ukrainians, it may also be a broader desire to psychologically or even politically influence both the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian society as a whole.
