Russia used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and over 300 drones — Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the first reports of the consequences of Russia’s massive strike on Ukraine. The most difficult situation remains in Kyiv, where a significant number of residential buildings are without heating.

Zelensky wrote about this on social media.

According to him, the consequences of the Russian strike are being recorded in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, in the Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava and Sumy regions, as well as in other regions. Repair crews, units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and all necessary services are working everywhere.

The president noted that during the attack, Russia used a significant number of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as more than 300 strike drones. Air defence forces engaged a significant number of targets. Zelensky emphasised that the day before the attack, Ukraine received the necessary missiles for air defence, which significantly helped in repelling the attack.

He stressed that every package of military support matters, and missiles for Patriot, NASAMS and other air defence systems are critically needed to protect people’s lives. According to him, the direct task of Ukrainian diplomacy is to ensure a sufficient number of air defence systems, and partners should not let Ukraine down in this matter.

Zelenskyy said that a special energy selector will be used to determine the full details of the consequences of the attack and the resources needed to restore electricity, heat and water supplies. He stressed that all Ukrainian officials and those responsible for the work of state institutions, regional and local authorities, and energy companies must be in Ukraine, working with communities and helping people to stabilise the situation.
