Ukraine’s women’s national tennis team has secured a place in the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Finals. The team defeated Poland 3–0 in the qualifying round.
Ukraine’s women’s tennis team advanced to the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Finals after defeating Poland, Suspilne Sport reports.
The tie was played in a best-of-five format, with the first team to win three matches advancing. Ukraine took a 2–0 lead on the first day, with victories from Marta Kostyuk and Elina Svitolina.
The second day began with the doubles match, where Ukraine was represented by Liudmyla and Nadiia Kichenok. The Polish team made a substitution, with Martyna Kubka replacing Katarzyna Kawa.
Ukraine secured the decisive win in the doubles match. The Kichenok sisters defeated Maja Chwalińska and Martyna Kubka in three sets.
As a result, Ukraine beat Poland 3–0 and guaranteed a place in the Finals.
This marks Ukraine’s second consecutive appearance in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals after the tournament’s rebranding. In 2025, Ukraine reached the semifinals, where they lost to eventual champions Italy.
Overall, this will be Ukraine’s fourth appearance at the top level of the competition. The team previously reached the World Group of the Fed Cup in 2010 and 2012.
The 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Finals will take place in Shenzhen, China, in September. Along with host nation China, reigning champions Italy, Great Britain, and Spain have also qualified.
