On April 11, Ukraine repatriated 175 military personnel and seven civilians. Most of them had been held in Russian captivity since 2022.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Among the Ukrainians released from Russian captivity are servicemen of the Armed Forces, National Guard members, and border guards. They include privates, sergeants, and officers.
The released Ukrainians participated in combat operations in various areas, including Mariupol, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, as well as in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kursk regions. Some of them are wounded.
As Zelenskyy noted, most of those released had been held captive since 2022.
The president thanked the units that contribute to the exchange fund, as well as international partners for their assistance in bringing Ukrainians home.
“It is a matter of principle for us to bring everyone back from Russian captivity,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
