Today, January 28, a Su-34 fighter-bomber was shot down while launching guided aerial bombs at Ukraine. According to preliminary data, the crew was killed. No rescue operation has been reported.

This was reported by Russian public sources.

The Su-34 is the main aircraft used by the Russian army to drop guided bombs on Ukrainian positions.

According to military blogger Sergei Misyura, the Su-34 is capable of carrying significant amounts of airborne weapons — up to 8 tons in a typical combat sortie and up to 12 tons at maximum. Most of the guided bombs that Russian troops use against Ukraine are launched from this type of aircraft.

“This is a very cool target, which always carefully dropped these bombs on the heads of our military many kilometers away from the danger zone — and then turned back. But not today. Together with the crew, they will no longer do anything bad to us,” Misyura said.
