Russian forces have carried out another massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said on social media.

According to him, the strikes targeted substations and 750 kV and 330 kV overhead power lines, which form the backbone of Ukraine’s power grid. Generation facilities were also hit, including the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir thermal power plants.

Shmyhal said that nuclear power plant units were unloaded by staff as a safety precaution. As of now, 4.5–5 stages of emergency power outage schedules have been introduced across Ukraine, while special emergency outage schedules are in effect in the eastern and northern regions.

The minister noted that the attack is ongoing. Energy workers are ready to begin restoration work as soon as the security situation allows.

He also said that Ukrenergo’s dispatcher has activated a request for emergency assistance from Poland. Shmyhal thanked Ukrainian service members and energy workers for their resilience and dedication.
