In October, the Russian army lost 54,400 troops killed or seriously wounded — its highest monthly losses since the start of the full-scale war. Ukrainian Defence Forces liberated 96.2 square kilometres of territory, exceeding the area captured by Russian forces during the same period.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on November 1.
October also set a record for the Russian army’s daily losses. On October 21, Russian losses reached 2,250 troops — the highest single-day figure since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Over the past month, Ukrainian Defence Forces also regained control of 96.2 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory. That was 10.4 square kilometres more than Russian occupying forces managed to capture during the same month.
“What matters is that we continue to take back what is ours,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked Ukraine’s defenders, every brigade and every unit for achieving these results.
“Russia is suffering losses. We are holding our positions, liberating territory and making sure that every day of this war costs the aggressor as much as possible,” the president said.
Zelenskyy stressed that Russia only needs to choose a ceasefire and diplomacy to put an end to these losses.
