This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a summary as of 16:00 on 5 April.
A total of 112 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day. Despite significant losses, Russian troops continue to attempt to break through Ukrainian defences.
The enemy is shelling the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions with artillery from the territory of Russia, as well as conducting air strikes on a number of settlements in Sumy region.
The greatest activity of the invaders is in the Pokrovske direction, where 46 attacks were recorded during the day. Ukrainian defence forces successfully repelled 39 of them, and three more battles are ongoing.
Intense fighting also continues in the Liman, Toretsk, Kupyansk and Kramatorsk sectors.
In the Kursk sector, 195 hostile attacks were registered, including those involving the use of aircraft and rocket artillery.
No active offensive actions by the enemy were recorded in the Prydniprovskyi sector.
