Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban responded to a letter from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stating that Ukraine may need €70 billion in support in 2026 and outlining possible financing mechanisms.
Viktor Orban wrote about this on X.
In his post, Orbán traditionally criticized the provision of funds to Kyiv, using derogatory analogies.
“This whole thing is a bit like trying to help an alcoholic by sending him another crate of vodka. Hungary has not lost its common sense,” he wrote.
Orbán previously called the EU’s continued support for Ukraine “madness,” arguing that Kyiv has no chance of defeating Russia.
“We have already burned through €185 billion, and we intend to burn through even more. So we are financing a country that has no chance of winning the war,” Orban said.
