At least 116 foreign-made components, mostly of American origin, were found in the North Korean missile that Russia fired at Kyiv on 24 April.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

‘The lack of sufficient pressure on Russia allows them to import such missiles and other weapons – and to use them here, in Europe. The lack of sufficient pressure on North Korea and its accomplices enables, in particular, the production of such ballistic missiles. The missile that killed civilians in Kyiv contained at least 116 components sourced from other countries – and most of them, unfortunately, were manufactured by American companies,’ Zelenskyy wrote.

The President noted that war in the modern world always has a broader context than just a conflict between two states. Aggression is often carried out by a group of allies, so the response to it must be collective.

He thanked international partners for their support of Ukraine, including the supply of air defence systems and missiles. Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of continuing to put pressure on Russia and its allies to stop the war.

He also recalled that Ukraine had previously supported the idea of a ceasefire, including ‘silence’ in the sky, at sea and at the front, but Russia had rejected these initiatives. ‘Stopping the killings is the first priority,’ the President added.

Today, search and rescue operations have been completed at the site of a Russian attack on a residential building in Kyiv. 12 people were killed and 87 injured.

Emergency and recovery operations are still ongoing. Damaged building structures are being dismantled.
