NATO has confirmed for the first time that the DPRK has sent its soldiers to Russia for the war against Ukraine. North Korean military units are now deployed in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a briefing.

“Today I can confirm that North Korean troops have been sent to Russia and that North Korean units have been deployed in the Kursk region. The deployment of troops with the DPRK is a significant escalation and is yet another violation of UN Security Council resolutions and a dangerous expansion of the war being waged by the Russian Federation,” the secretary-general said.

On October 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia would bring in the first North Korean military personnel as soon as possible.

The day before, the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry informed that North Korean formations had already arrived in Kursk Region to take part in a full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war.
