Strike drones have targeted an oil depot in the Orel region, marking the second such attack within a week, according to regional governor Andrei Klychkov.

A fire broke out at a fuel infrastructure facility in the village of Stalnoy Kon’ as a result of the attack.

“At a fuel infrastructure facility in the settlement of Stalnoy Kon’ in the Orel municipal district, a fire occurred. The attack is ongoing. There is currently no information about victims or casualties. Operational services are working at the scene,” Klychkov said at the second hour of the morning.

The governor also stated that 20 drones were intercepted over the region. “There were no casualties and no significant damage,” he said.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a total of 42 drones were shot down across Russia overnight. In addition to the Orel region, eight drones were intercepted over the Rostov and Bryansk regions, five over the Kursk region, and one over the Krasnodar Territory.

This is not the first attack on the Stalnoy Kon’ oil depot. On 14 December, Ukrainian drones struck the same facility, which supports operations of the Druzhba trunk oil pipeline. The depot is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex and supplies oil products to the Russian army.

Local residents in Orel reported hearing explosions and seeing flashes near the depot, which burned for several days following the earlier attack.
