Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened Ukraine with retaliation for the drone attack on Kazan. He made the corresponding statement during a teleconference with Russian regions when he spoke to the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
‘Whoever and however much he tries to destroy something in our country, he will face many times more destruction in his own country for it and will regret even more what he is trying to do in our country,’ Putin said.
Drones attacked Kazan on 21 December. According to Tatarstan authorities, eight drones were involved in the attack; six of them crashed into residential buildings. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed that there were six drones, not eight, and that three of them were shot down.
Kazan’s mayor’s office said the drones crashed into residential buildings in three districts of the city. No casualties were officially reported. Telegram channels wrote that three people were injured.
