On the night of August 9 (starting from 6:00 p.m. on August 8), the enemy attacked Odesa region with ballistic, anti-ship and anti-radiation missiles: Iskander-M/S-400, Oniks and Kh-31P. In addition, 202 Shahed-type strike UAVs, including jet-powered versions, as well as Gerbera drones, Parodiya-type decoy drones and Banderol loitering munitions were launched at Ukraine.
This was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, Odesa region was the main target of the attack.
“According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense forces shot down/suppressed 174 enemy Shahed- and Gerbera-type UAVs and drones of other types, as well as five Banderol loitering munitions in the north, south and east of the country.
Missile and strike UAV hits were recorded at 22 locations, while downed targets and debris fell at six locations. As a result of countermeasures, several enemy missiles failed to reach their targets. Information on the locations where they fell is being clarified,” the statement said.
The attack is ongoing, with enemy UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace.
