On the night of 21 December 2024, the enemy launched a massive attack with drones and missiles on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In total, 113 Shahed and other attack drones were launched from the directions of Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Berdiansk. In addition, the enemy fired an S-400 anti-aircraft guided missile from the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region in the direction of Poltava region, without any preliminary consequences.
The air attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces.
As of 09:00, 57 Shahed and other attack drones were confirmed to have been destroyed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Donetsk, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Due to the active counteraction of the Defence Forces, 56 enemy imitator drones were lost in the area, which helped to avoid negative consequences.
However, in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions, the downed drones damaged private and apartment buildings, property and cars. The victims are being provided with the necessary assistance.
