Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk defeated American Ashlyn Krueger and for the first time in her career reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. The match ended in two sets with a score of 6:4, 6:4.

Kostyuk continued her performances in the singles draw of Wimbledon 2026 after a victory over former world No. 8, American Emma Navarro. In the next match, another representative of the United States became the Ukrainian’s opponent — Ashlyn Krueger, who before that knocked Ukrainian Daria Snigur out of the tournament.
In the first set, Krueger won the starting game, but Kostyuk responded with a series of four won games in a row. The American managed to level the score, however the Ukrainian finished the set in her favor — 6:4.
In the second set, the tennis players exchanged games. Krueger went ahead — 4:2, but Kostyuk fought back and again won the set with a score of 6:4.
During the match, the Ukrainian made two aces, while Krueger had one. Kostyuk also made 17 winners against nine by her opponent. Marta had 11 unforced errors, the American had 19.

Reaching the quarterfinals became Kostyuk’s best result at Wimbledon. Earlier, her highest achievement at this tournament was reaching the third round in 2023 and 2024.
The Ukrainian reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time in a row. Before that, she set a personal record at Roland Garros 2026, where she reached the semifinal.
Kostyuk’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Italian Jasmine Paolini and Filipina Alexandra Eala.
Also on July 6, Kostyuk is to play in the doubles draw together with Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse. Their opponents will be the ninth seeds — Australian Ellen Perez and Dutch Demi Schuurs. The match is scheduled no earlier than 17:30 Kyiv time.
