Ukraine’s top-ranked tennis player Elina Svitolina has withdrawn from the tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany. It was her last competition before Wimbledon 2026, the main draw of which starts on June 29.
This was reported by Suspilne Sport.
Svitolina withdrew from the competition due to a right thigh injury. In the quarterfinal, she was supposed to face China’s Wang Xinyu.
Before that, Svitolina claimed a comeback victory over “neutral” Liudmila Samsonova.
“Yesterday’s victory came in a very intense battle, but it took a little more out of my body than I expected. So I need a few more days to recover,” Svitolina said in a video comment from the tournament organizers.
The tournament in Bad Homburg was the Ukrainian’s last before Wimbledon 2026.
The main draw of the grass-court Grand Slam tournament starts on June 29.
